Are You A Catrovert?
If you do these things you might be.
There are all kinds of personalities in this world. You’ve probably heard of extroverts and introverts. But have you heard of Catroverts?
The official definition of Catrovert (n): A person who would rather spend time with cats rather than humans.
Do you apologize to your feline friend when you have to leave them for a while? Do you long for the time when you can return home to be greeted with head nudges and purrs from your feline companion?
You might be a catrovert.
When someone asks you what you are doing over the weekend, and you reply that you have plans. What you don’t tell them is that those plans involve sitting at home with your cat on your lap, watching Netflix, even though you know your cat is judging you for it.
If you do any of these things, you might be a Catrovert. Many cat fanciers worldwide identify as catroverts. I saw a video on social media where a guy was pulled over and expressed to the officer that he identified as a cat. It was definitely a skit. Identifying as a cat might be taking things too far. Identifying with your cat is purrfectly fine.
Keeping a cat has many health benefits.
The values of cat ownership are many.
Studies have shown that cat owners are less likely to die of a heart attack than non-cat owners.
A cat’s purr may even have healing benefits. Studies have shown that cats purr at a frequency between 25 Hz and 150 Hz, which is the same frequency used to heal broken bones and soothe joint problems.
No one is suggesting having a cat sleep on your broken wrist instead of seeking medical attention, but they might help to ease your suffering a bit.
Studies have shown that cat owners have lower blood pressure spikes in reaction to stress than non-cat owners. Cats and pets in general provide unconditional love and improve our quality of life.
There’s no shortage of laughter in a home that keeps a cat or two. That’s not scientific data, just a fact of cat ownership.
When a man loves cats, I am his friend and comrade, without further introduction.
-Mark Twain
If you’re a Catrovert, you’re in good company.
